Baronial Candidates:
Lord Colin MacNachtan and
Lady Isabella of Bryn Gwlad
Unto the populace of the Barony of Bryn Gwlad, greetings from Colin MacNachtan and Isabella of Bryn Gwlad.
We have heard the call for a new Baron and Baroness, and after much consideration have submitted our letter of intent as candidates to their Highnesses for consideration.
We have been active in Bryn Gwlad for 3 years (Colin) and 5 years (Isabella). During that time we have participated in a broad spectrum of activities within the barony. Colin is involved in the rapier, chivalric, and archery communities, including Deputy Knight Marshal. Colin is also a member of the Baronial Guard and serves as Deputy Seneschal and member of the Financial Committee. Isabella stewards baronial events, most recently as steward for the last Bryn Gwlad Baronial. We both participate in several guilds, most notably European Dance, where Isabella is Guild Principal and has taught at Kingdom Dance and Gulf Wars.
As Baron and Baroness our first goal will be to preserve the active and vibrant diversity that is Bryn Gwlad. We will encourage and support all the varied activities the populace pursues. We will work with the officers of the barony to ensure they have the resources to do their jobs. We will also develop ways to foster the next generation of officers to ensure good leadership in the future.
We see an ongoing need to bring in and foster new people as existing members move away or take up interests outside the SCA. The barony has made efforts to attract new people in recent years, but we believe more could be done to help those new people find their niche within the game we all love.
We also recognize that the Baron and Baroness are in many ways the public face of the group. We will do our best to represent the barony in a favorable light, both locally and to the rest of Ansteorra. We will attend a variety of events across the kingdom. For some of these events we will encourage the members of the barony to attend as a group, with a listside presence and a place to camp together. This will, among other benefits, provide a way for newcomers to attend events outside the barony without facing an entire group of strangers on their own.
Bryn Gwlad has a strong Arts and Sciences community, with many guilds and artisans practicing their craft. We would like to provide more opportunities for these artisans to share their craft with the rest of the community, both to recognize their expertise and to encourage others to join them in their pursuits.
We will support Bryn Gwlad's strong fighting community to help them grow individually and as a group. We will work with the leaders of each of the fighting areas to provide training for both individual combat and melee tactics.
We may be reached via email (see below) or you may find us at the park almost every Tuesday evening.
In service,
Colin MacNachtan
Isabella of Bryn Gwlad
