October 31-November 2, 2008
This is the tale of the Tournament of the Oasis of the Crimson Sands, not far from the Holy City of Jerusalem, between two great kings, Saladin, beloved of his people, and King Richard the Lion-Hearted, both great warriors of their respective lands... read more

The Barony of Bryn Gwlad is the Austin, Texas branch of the Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA). The SCA is a medieval/renaissance re-enactment organization. We seek to learn about the beauty, chivalry, and learning of our past and to share with others the wonders of medieval Europe.
Our Baron and Baroness are Don Avery Shaw and Mistress Gwenneth Bowynne of Glamorgan.
We study the time period from the later Roman era to A.D. 1600. We span the U.S., with several chapters overseas. We re-create the fun parts, like feasts, costumes, and sword fighting, but leave out the parts like plagues and beheadings! This Barony resides within the Kingdom of Ansteorra, which covers Texas and Oklahoma.
We meet every Tuesday at "Populace in the Park" (PiP), at Patterson Park, off Airport and IH-35. Lady Illiaria Shachastnogovichna is our Hospitaler—that is, the officer in charge of hospitality. Look for her, as it's her special job to make you feel welcome.
We also enjoy the modern convenience of a baronial email list where those interested can communicate with each other about baronial goings on. It is a fun place to do business, socialize and to keep up with local happenings. You never know who you’ll meet on the mailing list. Join us here: Bryn Gwlad Mailing list sign up. All you need is an email address.
Would you like to keep up with the goings-on in Bryn Gwlad? There's a monthly calendar on this website, of course, but you can also add us to your Google Calendar. Just type "Bryn Gwlad" and click "Search public calendars" to have our events show up on your own Google Calendar.
