- Diamond Point Engraving in the 16th Century
- This class is to provide insight into the decoration of glassware
in the 16th century. The class will cover tools used, different styles
employed, and a hands-on experience in engraving glass.

- Carolingian Calligraphy
- Learn a beginning simple calligraphy hand that was used in Charlemagne's enpire between 800 and 1200, and that's useful for most SCA scrolls. Handouts will be available.

- Paper (Strathmore 400 series paper pad, 11"x14")

- Medieval Dance: Basic Skills Bransles - Level 1 Youth activity
- The introductory class to the Medieval Dance course of youth study will
start with basic steps: single, double, and bransle steps. These steps will
be used as a foundation for many dances. The students will dance through
Maltese Bransle, Horse’s Bransle, Half Hannigan, and Pease Bransle.
Each student will have to demonstrate the techniques shown in order to successfully
complete the course.

- Basic class on voice heraldry with focus on heralding a list. Will include
basic projection, care and maintenance of the voice, and

- 15th Century Italian Dance - Novice
- Beginners will learn basic steps for Italian dances. These steps will be used as a foundation for many dances. One does not need to know Italian to participate in the class. We will also dance through several dances, including Amoroso and Petit Riense.

- Period Food Coloring
- The class will be an introduction to how cooks in period added color to
their meals, using readily available supplies. Handouts listing coloring
agents and several examples of period use of food coloring will be given.
Hands-on class. Besides making several of the coloring agents, several
foods will colored.

- Courtly Flirting Dance 101
- Come practice techniques for adding flirting style to some dances of Courtly Love. This includes a participative discussion on tips and techniques for being the most enjoyable flirt on the dance floor and a handout on the language of the fan. Ladies, feel free to bring a fan to practice dancing with—this does NOT mean we are doing fan dances. Dances will include some of our favorites from English country dances, an allemande or two, and one SCA original choreography—Cat's Exchange.

- A practical method for patterning and sewing bias-cut hose made of wool or linen.

- This class will build on the foundation of basic Italian steps. Dances taught will include Geliosa and Rostiboli. HL Myfanwy is past Dance Guild Principal and has taught at several Kingdom dance symposiums. We look forward to having her teach at Candlemas.

- Split Stitch Embroidery
- We will discuss the ways in which split stitch was used in the Middle Ages
and Renaissance, the stitch will be demonstrated, then students will practice
the stitch using wool embroidery thread on a linen ground. As this class is
sponsored by the Ministry of Children, sign-up will be limited to minors
until one hour before class time. After that, any remaining spaces are
available to students of any age. Minors who complete the course successfully
will receive a token of accomplishment.
Limit: 15 students
NOTE: Participants will be using needles. Parents concerned that their children
cannot yet do so safely should attend with them to supervise and assist.

- First time offered in Ansteorra! This is the next level of chirurgeon skills
training for the new and the seasoned chirurgeon. Armor extrication, quick
assessment, how to splint with what you have... this course goes in-depth
into "to move or not to move off an SCA battlefield" and when to call EMS.

- Lucrezia Borgia Dress and Chemise, c. 1520
- The focus is on a dress from a portrait by Bartolommeo Veneto believed
to be of Lucrezia Borgia. This dress is also featured in a portrait of Joanna
of Aragon by Raphael. We will cover cut and construction of both the dress
and the chemise. The technique of cartridge pleating is used in the
construction of this garment but will not be covered in class.
